Castle of Torelló Monument · Torelló, Osona, Barcelona The castle of Torelló, also called castell dels moros, stands on the ridge of a small range of hills north of the plain of Vic, at 781 metres of altitude, overlooking the valley of Torelló and the river Ges. It served as a watch bastion and formed part of the defensive system that controlled the entrances and exits of the plain of Vic and of Catalonia towards the north, in this sector of the Pyrenees. From its location, some 250 metres above the valleys of the Ges and the Ter, the whole plain of Vic and its foothills are visible, from the sierras of Bellmunt, Curull and Puigsacalm to the Montseny, and to the north the valley of the Ter and the high peaks of the Puigmal, the Pedraforca and the Tossa d'Alp.
