Guilleries Nature · Tavertet, Osona, Barcelona The Guilleries massif forms the Transversal mountain range, in north-eastern Catalonia, straddling the comarques of Osona and la Selva, with access from the Collsacabra sub-comarca, where Tavertet is located. It is crossed by the river Ter, which forms the Sau and Susqueda reservoirs here, and its highest point is Sant Miquel de Solterra, at 1,204 metres. Granitic in nature, it borders the Vic plain to the west and the Hostoles plains to the east; at higher elevations beech and oak woods grow, and in the lower areas, Mediterranean-type holm oak woods, today altered by crops and chestnut groves. The name Guilleries is relatively recent, dating from the 18th century; before that it was known as the «mountain of Osona», a name already documented in the 10th century.
