Castle of Orís Monument · Orís, Osona, Barcelona Castle of the twelfth to seventeenth centuries situated on the summit of a steep rocky mount about 2 km from Orís, a small village in the comarca of Osona to which it gives its name. The first documents on the medieval stronghold date from the year 914, when it belonged to Berenguer I of Manlleu or of Orís, and from 1014 it remained linked to the family of Enrique de Orís, whose surname ended up definitively naming the fortification. It underwent its first alterations in the fourteenth and seventeenth centuries. During the first Carlist war it was besieged by the Baron of Meer and fell on 30 March 1838 when its garrison surrendered, remaining almost totally destroyed; only some walls, the cistern and the plan of the Romanesque chapel of Sant Pere are preserved.
