Castle of Voltregà Monument · les Masies de Voltregà, Osona, Barcelona A Romanesque castle of the 10th and 11th centuries, declared bien cultural de interés nacional (Catalonia's highest level of heritage protection), located in the municipality of Les Masies de Voltregà, in the comarca of Osona, whose jurisdictional district came to include also San Hipólito, Santa Cecilia de Voltregá and Sobremunt. The earliest records date from 902, and in the 11th century it belonged to the counts of Barcelona, who gave it as a wedding dowry to Countess Ermessenda de Carcasona. It later passed through the hands of the bishops of Vic, the Gurb-Queralt family, the house of Montcada and the viscounts of Cabrera, until in 1370 it was sold to the bishopric of Vic, which retained its lordship until the abolition of jurisdictional rights in the 19th century.
