Castle of el Brull Monument · el Brull, Osona, Barcelona The castle of El Brull, of Romanesque origin and enlarged in the 19th century, stands in the district of this municipality of Osona; it originally formed part of Seva, of which it later became the jurisdictional centre, and was a domain of the counts of Barcelona and a possession of the viscounts of Osona-Cardona. In 1265 Viscount Ramón de Cardona sold the barony of El Brull to the bishop of Vic. Of the medieval castle, pentagonal in plan and reinforced with circular towers at the corners and another at the centre of the north wall, only the north-eastern corner survives today, with a primitive one-metre-wide tower covered by a later one, and a fragment of the north wall with a badly damaged window; the two visible construction phases date between the 12th and 13th centuries.
