Mills of the Riera de Sant Joan Curiosity · Monistrol de Calders, Moianès, Barcelona Image of Monistrol de Calders, not of the place itself. Old flour mills powered by water on the Riera de Sant Joan, such as the Molí d'en Sala and the Molí d'en Saladic, in Monistrol de Calders. The Molí d'en Sala, documented since 1192 as property of the Sala Abadal estate, was built in its present form in the late 18th century by the owners of La Sala de Sant Llogari; it ground grain using the stream's water by means of two ponds that allowed grinding to continue in one while the other filled, and it remained in operation, with interruptions, until one or two years after the Civil War. Today it is well preserved, converted into rural lodging, and is included in the Inventory of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia.
