The festa major of Vilassar de Mar is held during the week of 24 June in honour of Sant Joan Baptista, patron saint of the town. The programme includes the arrival of the Canigou Flame, the Penjada de l'Ase Innocenci (hanging of the Innocenci donkey) from the bell tower, the arrival of the slave trader Pigat and Lucía, and the town's giants, as well as concerts, a gathering of giants and gralla players, a correfoc and matinades. It culminates with a procession from the Town Hall square to the church and a solemn mass; the following day the co-patron saints Sant Mansuet, Sant Reparat, Sant Innocenci and Santa Especiosa are honoured.
