Church of Santa Susanna Monument · Santa Susanna, Maresme, Barcelona The parish church of Santa Susanna, in the Maresme (Barcelona), was built during the postwar period through the effort of all the local residents, who contributed much of the labour free of charge. Its most notable feature is the mural paintings of the presbytery, the work of Aurelio Crosiet, a disciple of Josep Maria Sert and a specialist in decorating large spaces with the gold-leaf technique. The composition depicts the martyrdom of Santa Susanna on one side and a vision of her arrival in heaven on the other, while the dome shows clouds with an evangelist in each corner.
