Busquets Tower Monument · Caldes d'Estrac, Maresme, Barcelona The Torre Busquets is a monument in Caldes d'Estrac (Maresme, Barcelona) declared a cultural asset of national interest. Together with the Torre Verda it marks the boundary of the Vila Vella (old town) core, and together with the Torre dels Encantats in Arenys de Mar it formed part of the coastal defence against piracy. It is a cylindrical tower with a ground floor and two upper storeys, typical of the 16th century, built of stone and lime mortar, with access via a stone bridge leading to a postern protected by an arrow slit. It is joined by a cantilevered bridge to the 17th-century farmhouse of Can Busquets, and surrounded by a landscaped park with stepped terraces. The first record dates from 25 February 1586, when the Council of Barcelona authorised Joan Busquets to build a round tower to defend against the Moors.
