Can Maiol de la Torre

Fortified farmhouse of the 16th and 17th centuries, also documented as Can Pasqual de la Torre, in the municipality of Arenys de Munt. It was built, like other farmhouses in the comarca, to withstand the danger of Turkish raids and the growing banditry of the time. It has a notable defence tower of square plan with a battered base, with an attached wing of ground floor and upper storey with a voussoired entrance topped by a moulded window. The tower rises one storey higher than the rest of the building and preserves a wooden ceiling inside; its windows are framed with fine mouldings. It gives its name to the lane and the district where it stands.
