Pedraforca Nature · Saldes, Berguedà, Barcelona The Pedraforca is an emblematic mountain of Catalonia, located in the sierra del Cadí, within the Cadí-Moixeró natural park, on the boundary between the provinces of Barcelona and Lleida, in the Berguedà. Its name, from the Catalan words pedra and forca, “stone” and “fork”, alludes to its distinctive shape of two great peaks separated by a saddle, the Enforcadura: the northern one, with the Pollegó Superior at 2506 metres and the Calderer at 2505, and the southern one, with the Pollegó Inferior at 2445. The nearest villages are Gósol and Saldes, between whose municipalities the massif is divided. In 1982 it was declared a paratge natural d'interès nacional (natural site of national interest) by the Parliament of Catalonia, and its summit appears in the Repte dels 100 Cims of the Federation of Hiking Associations of Catalonia.
