Castle of Peguera Monument · Fígols, Berguedà, Barcelona The castle of Peguera is a frontier castle situated at the top of the Roc de Peguera, in the municipality of Fígols (Berguedà), at the foot of which lie the uninhabited houses of the hamlet of Peguera. Documented since the second half of the 11th century, when between 1068 and 1095 the castellan Pere Ramon swore fealty to the count of Cerdanya for Peguera, it passed in 1171 to the monastery of Poblet by donation of Pere de Berga, and in 1390 King John I sold its jurisdiction to Ramon de Peguera. Today only fragments of wall remain: it appears to have been a small castle, perhaps a simple tower, an outpost of the nearby castle of Fígols, whose stones were reused when it collapsed to build the houses of Peguera, a mining village abandoned around 1970.
