Graugés Pond Nature · Avià, Berguedà, Barcelona The Graugés ponds, near Berga, are a system of artificial reservoirs created between 1900 and 1909 by means of embankments, irrigation channels and water pumps to supply the Graugés agricultural colony, founded by Agustí Rosal i Sala. Together they cover 12.55 hectares at 596 metres altitude; the main pond amounts to about 7 hectares and its depth, originally about 18 metres, has now dropped to just over 6. Surrounded by riverside woodland of black poplars, willows and ash trees, they are one of the main attraction points for ducks and herons of the upper Llobregat basin, although they suffer from a slow silting process.
