Agricultural Park of the Baix Llobregat Nature · el Prat de Llobregat, Baix Llobregat, Barcelona The Parc Agrari del Baix Llobregat occupies the alluvial plains of the delta and the lower valley of the Llobregat river, in the centre of the Barcelona metropolitan region, and stretches across fourteen municipalities — including el Prat de Llobregat — with a combined population of around 730,000. Protected since 1998, it covers an area of 2,938 hectares delimited by its special plan and is managed by the Technical Office for Municipal Forest Fire Prevention and Agricultural Development. Its Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and an average temperature of 15.6°C, favours open-air and covered market-garden and fruit-tree crops that make this plain one of the most fertile agricultural areas in Catalonia. The area also preserves remnants of the delta's original landscape, with plant communities of coastal sand dunes, brackish marshes and riverside woodland, today greatly transformed by human activity.
