The first mechanical loom of Catalonia

In 1826 a mechanical loom was installed in Sallent that is held to be the first in Catalonia, a foretaste of the textile industrialisation that filled the banks of the Llobregat with factories and colonies. The municipality was linked to cotton from then on.
