Church of Santa Maria de Navarcles Monument · Navarcles, Bages, Barcelona A Baroque church rebuilt between 1690 and 1760 over a Romanesque church documented since 1050, when the soldier Sunyer de Randulf bequeathed it in his will to his son Bernat; its bell tower was begun in 1690, the chapel of Sant Sebastià was added in 1774, and the outdoor stone staircase dates from 1842. Rectangular in plan with three naves, it measures 27.70 metres long by 16.5 metres wide and 11 metres high, and its austere façade displays a Baroque doorway with plant motifs beneath a broken pediment. The side naves contain eight chapels dated between 1663, the oldest, dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary, and 1775; the chapel of Sant Joan Baptista, from 1706, burned down during the Civil War and was rebuilt under the invocation of Our Lady of Montserrat.
