Castle of Castellfollit del Boix (Bages) first documented in 990 and sold in 1063 by Bernat Otger de Castellet to Count Ramon Berenguer I. In 1319 its then lord, Ramon de Malta, ordered it to be sold to religious institutions, and it was acquired by the Almoina de la Seu de Barcelona; in 1394 John I bought the jurisdiction of the castle. Within its grounds the priory of Sant Pere del Mont was established, dependent on the monastery of la Portella. It has been declared a Bien Cultural de Interés Nacional (Catalonia's highest level of heritage protection) since 1988 (BCIN 652-MH).
