Tower of els Soldats Monument · Avinyó, Bages, Barcelona A military optical telegraph tower on the turó de Solells de la Posa, in Avinyó, at 400 metres of altitude, originally called the tower of the serrat de l'Oliva. It has a square plan 5.5 metres on a side and 7.5 metres high, with three levels separated by string courses; the ground floor, resting on the rock, has twelve loopholes and the telegraph stood on the roof terrace. It replaced an earlier tower, now demolished, which linked the towers of Artés and Sant Feliu Sasserra; the records do not give an exact date, though it is placed around 1849 or 1851, and the Generalitat catalogues it with the date of 1854. To the west a single-storey fort of 55 m² for the garrison is attached. The network was dismantled in 1862 and the tower was restored between 2013 and 2014.
