Castle of Orpí Monument · Orpí, Anoia, Barcelona Remains of the castell termenat of Orpí (Anoia, Barcelona), which protected the Carme valley, raised above the cliff of the Morei stream, next to the church of Sant Miquel d'Orpí, the fortress's former chapel. Documented for the first time in 987 as castro Auripini in a donation by Count Borrell II, it belonged to the Claramunt and Montagut families in the 11th century, to the viscounts of Cardona between the 13th and 14th centuries, to Arnau Tort de Claramunt from 1280, and, from 1688 to 1837, to the Padró family. Built in a style between Romanesque and Gothic, it preserves a six-sided polygonal tower with a voussoir entrance, and has ended up converted into a farmhouse. It is declared Bien Cultural de Interés Nacional (Catalonia's highest level of heritage protection). Photo: V Roig from Barcelona, SPAIN (CC BY 2.0) What to see and do in Orpí
