Castle of Cabrera Monument · Cabrera d'Anoia, Anoia, Barcelona 11th-century castle that gives its name to the municipality of Cabrera d'Anoia, built to guard the royal road to Aragon through the Capellades gorge. Its first lord was the bishop of Barcelona Guislabert I; it later passed to Ramon Berenguer I and his wife Almodis, to the Cardona family in 1396, and, from the 17th century, to the Móra family. Of the original fortress, built with ashlar blocks laid in horizontal courses, only a few stretches of wall with arrow slits survive; on its ruins the Casal dels Móra was built in the 17th century, reusing old walls and preserving the Cardona coat of arms at the entrance. It is declared a Bien Cultural de Interés Nacional (Catalonia's highest level of heritage protection). Photo: Jordiferrer (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Cabrera d'Anoia
