Convent of els Trinitaris Monument · Vilafranca del Penedès, Alt Penedès, Barcelona The convent of the Trinitarians stands next to the church of the Trinity in Vilafranca del Penedès and is protected as a Bien Cultural de Interés Local (local-level cultural heritage protection status). It was established in 1557 in the building of the former Hospital del Sant Esperit, when the Trinitarian friars moved to this site; the foundation stone of the present building was laid on 8 December 1578. The façade survives, with the cross of the Trinitarians and the town's coat of arms above the door, along with a Renaissance cloister with two galleries and Tuscan stone columns, five round arches per side on the upper level and ten on the lower. After serving as a police station, municipal offices and parish housing, its cloister today occasionally hosts recitals, lectures and concerts.
