Macià House Monument · Vilafranca del Penedès, Alt Penedès, Barcelona The Casa Macià, or Palau Macià, is a fifteenth-century Gothic manor house on the town hall square of Vilafranca del Penedès, with its main entrance on Carrer de la Cort, 16; it was formerly known as the casa dels set portals for the seven entrances it had before part of the estate was sold off. It belonged for three centuries to the Bartomeu family, barons of Florejachs from 1571, and passed by marriage to the Macià family - who gave it its name - and in 1993 to the Álvarez-Cuevas family. On the main floor, with balconies overlooking the square and the garden, the noble hall and a large library with a historical archive stand out, decorated with paintings, antiques, Gothic and Rococo furniture and the family's heraldic coats of arms. It is protected as a Bien Cultural de Interés Local (local-level cultural heritage protection status). Photo: Cornelia Bohl Smolders (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Vilafranca del Penedès
