Inglada Via Almshouse Monument · Vilafranca del Penedès, Alt Penedès, Barcelona The Asil Inglada Via is a large Modernista building sharing party walls, in the urban expansion of Vilafranca del Penedès, alongside the road to Sant Martí de Sarroca, opened in 1881. It has a ground floor and two upper floors under an Arabic-tile roof and flat roof terrace, with galleries and a rear courtyard; the façade has on the upper floor a gallery of pointed-arch windows and a large central round-arched window, set between rows of windows and a stepped cornice of exposed brick. It was built in 1916, the work of Santiago Güell i Grau, and founded as an almshouse in 1917 to shelter the town's poor women, at the request of the Inglada Via family; after the Civil War it passed to the social welfare arm of the Caixa d'Estalvis del Penedès, becoming a home for the elderly.
