The bridge of Requejo Monument · Villadepera, Sayago, Zamora Image of Villadepera, not of the place itself. Designed by the engineer José Eugenio Ribera Dutaste and built between 1913 and 1914, this bridge-viaduct over the Duero canyon finally joined Sayago with Aliste, with a span of one hundred and twenty metres and a height of ninety; before it, the only link between the two areas was a boat that crossed between Pino del Oro and Villadepera, hauled by ropes. It was inaugurated on 15 September 1914 by Abilio Calderón, director general of Public Works, and at the time it was the bridge with the longest span and also the greatest height over a river in the whole of Spain.
