The church of the Santos Juanes Monument · Nava del Rey, Tierra del Vino, Valladolid It is the town's great church and its most recognisable landmark, popularly known as the Giralda de Castilla for its graceful tower, in reference to that of Seville; around it are organised the twelve penitential processions in which the town's seven Holy Week brotherhoods take to the streets. Declared a Bien de Interés Cultural in 1931, the building dates from the 16th century and was built by Rodrigo Gil de Hontañón, although of his Gothic design only the rectangular three-nave floor plan survives, since after his death the master builders completed the church in Classicist style. It preserves the high altarpiece, from the early 17th century, the work of Francisco Velázquez, Francisco Martínez and the sculptor Gregorio Fernández, as well as a sacristy of 1733 designed by Alberto Churriguera.
