The castle of Osma Monument · Osma, Tierras del Burgo, Soria The castle of Osma stands on a hill between the Ucero and Abión rivers, very close to Osma and a little over a kilometre southwest of El Burgo de Osma (Soria), near the ancient Roman city of Uxama Argaela. This Celtiberian, later Roman, city retained its importance until the late Middle Ages, when it was abandoned and its population moved to present-day Osma, with the castle being built on the hill between the 10th and 11th centuries and modified between the 14th and 15th centuries. Three walled enclosures of irregular plan adapted to the hill are preserved, along with the access gate, a good part of the high curtain walls, and two towers, one of them the keep. Between 2016 and 2020 it was consolidated and restored, with new signage and walkways for visitors. Photo: Daniel Muñoz (CC BY 2.0) What to see and do in Osma
