The Church of Santa María la Mayor

The church of Santa María la Mayor in Ólvega (Soria) is a Gothic church with an almost fortified appearance, with a crenellated tower and a polygonal chancel typical of the 16th century. The sacristy, covered by a barrel vault, and the tower were built in the late 15th century, while the transept and nave were completed already into the 16th century. In the 1990s the interior was restored and left with exposed stone, its ceiling decorated with elements carved in stone; at the back of the church a retable, also restored in that intervention, is preserved.
