The County of Gómara Historical milestone · Gómara, Campo de Gómara, Soria Image of Gómara, not of the place itself. The county of Gómara is a noble title granted in 1690 by King Charles II, together with the earlier viscountcy of Almenar, to Luis de Salcedo y Arbizu, belonging to the Salcedo and Ríos lineages, families of knights linked to the Twelve Lineages of Soria. In 1692 the town became the seat of the county; half a century later the land register counted forty-three families, which by the mid-19th century had already grown to ninety-two, with 370 inhabitants. The title remains in use today: its current holder, Pedro Francisco de León y Garrido, inherited it in 2006 after his father's death. 1692 Photo: Miguel Ángel García. from Ólvega., España (CC BY 2.0) What to see and do in Gómara
