Director Mercedes Álvarez filmed this documentary here in 2004 about the village where she was born, a portrait of Spain's rural depopulation that was awarded prizes at festivals worldwide. The editor of José Luis Guerín's feature film En construcción, Álvarez returned to her roots to observe the extinction of a village that had reached four hundred inhabitants at the start of the century and had only fourteen left at the time of filming, the last heirs of a thousand years of unbroken history. The film, starring residents such as Antonino Martínez, José Fernández and Silvano García, won the best film award at the Rotterdam Film Festival in 2005 and the grand prize of the 27th Cinéma du réel International Festival in Paris, as well as a medal from the Círculo de Escritores Cinematográficos.
