The Cega river in Vallelado Nature · Vallelado, Tierra de Pinares, Segovia Image of Vallelado, not of the place itself. The Cega rises on the northern slope of the sierra de Guadarrama, at the fuente del Mojón spring, in Navafría (Segovia), and runs 149 kilometres through the provinces of Segovia and Valladolid before flowing into the Duero near Puente Duero. As it passes through Vallelado, at 779 metres above sea level, one can see the dam of an old water-powered mill, the fishing weir and the old bridge, as well as the Minguela bridge; the surroundings form part of the Senda de los Pescadores, a route that runs through the Tierra de Pinares alongside the river beneath a notable population of birch trees. Fishing reserves and riverside groves of poplars and willows enliven a riverbank that otherwise runs between pine woods and cropland.
