The pitch-makers (pegueros) and the resin

The locals are called pegueros after the trade of pitch and resin. A large factory raised in 1888 came to employ more than five hundred people around 1940 and produced 18,000 barrels of rosin and 1,500,000 kilos of turpentine a year.
