The sexmo of La Mata Historical milestone · Fresneda de Cuéllar, El Carracillo, Segovia Image of Fresneda de Cuéllar, not of the place itself. The sexmo of La Mata is one of the six divisions into which the Community of Town and Land of Cuéllar was organised, originating in the last quarter of the 11th century and lying mostly within the province of Segovia. It was located in the south-west of the community and today comprises the towns of Vallelado, Mata de Cuéllar —its historic capital, which gives it its name—, Samboal, Arroyo de Cuéllar, Fresneda de Cuéllar, Chañe and Narros de Cuéllar, as well as other, now depopulated, settlements such as Avienza, Alcuerna and Torre de don Velasco. Fresneda was included in this sexmo, which was responsible for dividing up pine woods and pastures among the villages that made it up. último cuarto del siglo XI Photo: NeliOM (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Fresneda de Cuéllar
