Declared a Monumento Histórico-Artístico (Spain's heritage designation in force between 1931 and 1985) on 13 July 1983, this Romanesque church has a most unusual interior arrangement: the altar sits on a lower level and the faithful attend mass from tiers that rise above it, as in a Roman theater.
