The chestnut grove of La Lámpara Historical milestone · Puerto de Béjar, Sierra de Béjar, Salamanca Image of Puerto de Béjar, not of the place itself. Between May and September 1812 the French burned the village and took away the church lamp over the non-payment of 14,000 reales. To settle the debt the residents handed over a chestnut grove of 44 trees, and the spot has been called La Lámpara ever since. 1812 Photo: Ramajero (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Puerto de Béjar
