The historic ensemble of Montemayor

Monument · Montemayor del Río, Sierra de Béjar, Salamanca

The town, perched at 677 metres above the river, was declared a historic-artistic ensemble on 3 September 1982. Its place name is descriptive and was born in southern Leonese as Monti Mayó, «high hill through which a river passes».
