The church of San Román Mártir Monument · Torresmenudas, La Armuña, Salamanca The church of San Román Mártir stands at the north-western edge of Torresmenudas, on the way to Aldearrodrigo. Of its original Romanesque fabric barely the 12th-century doorway survives, a round arch with three archivolts: the outer one, resting on the wall, decorated with plant and animal motifs, and the two inner ones on columns with historiated capitals of coarse carving. The rest of the church, with a single nave and square chancel, was rebuilt in the 16th century and renovated in the 20th. Declared a site of cultural interest on 6 May 1993, the tower, much later, is from the 17th century. The locality is already mentioned in the charter that Ferdinand II of León granted to Ledesma in 1161. Photo: Armunia (CC BY-SA 3.0 es) What to see and do in Torresmenudas
