Part of the municipal district, around the now deserted settlement of Horcajo, belonged to the Comunidad de Villa y Tierra of Ávila and to its archpriestship of Bonilla or La Serrezuela, while the rest was Leonese: two kingdoms and two bishoprics in a single municipality.
