The place was born of the resettlement that Alfonso IX of León promoted at the beginning of the thirteenth century, when it was incorporated into the alfoz of Salvatierra; during the Ancien Régime it was a mere annex of Fuenterroble de Salvatierra, from which it eventually broke away.
