Yew forest of Tosande Nature · Dehesa de Montejo, Montaña Palentina, Palencia The Tejeda de Tosande is one of the largest concentrations of yew trees in the Iberian Peninsula and western Europe, with specimens of twisted trunks, diameters of one to one and a half metres, and heights exceeding fifteen metres. It stretches between 1,300 and 1,500 metres in altitude across the northern slope of Peña Oracada (1,818 m), in the Tosande valley, within the Fuentes Carrionas y Fuente Cobre - Montaña Palentina natural park, in the municipality of Dehesa de Montejo (Palencia). It grows on a Palaeozoic substrate that favours a surrounding beech wood, so that the yew wood forms part of a larger forest dominated by beech.
