Cave of Valporquero Nature · Vegacervera, La Montaña de Riaño, León The cave of Valporquero is located in the north of the province of León, next to the village of Valporquero de Torío, in the municipality of Vegacervera, 47 kilometres from the provincial capital. Managed by the Diputación de León, it opened to the public in 1966 and offers a route of one thousand three hundred metres through six chambers of increasing complexity, from the one known as the Hall of the Little Wonders to the final Hall of the Wonders, with an underground lake and eccentric formations; it maintains seven degrees and 99% humidity all year round. In 2016, to mark the fiftieth anniversary of its opening, it hosted an exhibition of León craftspeople, an underground photography workshop, exhibitions of fossils and minerals, and a choral concert, the first ever held inside it.
