Yordas Peak Nature · Burón, La Montaña de Riaño, León Limestone peak of 1,967 metres, also called Burín or Borín for its north face, which looks out over the Riaño reservoir and serves as a visual landmark for the whole Valdeburón, between the municipalities of Riaño and Burón. It is one of the most visited peaks of the León mountains, with views as far as the Mampodre massif, the Picos de Europa and the Pico Espigüete. At its foot open the valleys of Mirva and Rabanal, with beech woods and upland pastures where for centuries transhumant merino sheep grazed in summer, leaving sheepfolds now out of use. In 1950 an eight-metre cross was placed on the summit, which the snowfalls brought down that same winter. Among its fauna the chamois, the Iberian ibex, the griffon vulture, the golden eagle and, occasionally, the brown bear and the Iberian wolf stand out.
