First historical record of Villazala

The town, born of the resettlement of the 10th and 11th centuries, is first documented in 1118. In the 15th century it headed one of the jurisdictions of the Marquis of Astorga, with about ten villages of the Ribera and as many of the Páramo (high plateau).
