Los Ordejones Curiosity · Humada, Páramos, Burgos Image of Humada, not of the place itself. The entity of Los Ordejones groups two twin hamlets, Ordejón de Abajo or Santa María and Ordejón de Arriba or San Juan, a duplication of settlement typical of these highland plains of northern Burgos. Its name comes from the urce, a plant similar to heather that was abundant in the area, and both villages are mentioned in the Cantar de Mio Cid under their second names, San Juan and Santa María, because those lands belonged to the family of the Cid. It belonged to the Cuadrilla de Sandoval, in the partido of Villadiego, under the lordship of the Duke of Frías. In the 1990s the linguist Iván Ortega Santos collected here the oral traditions of the valley, such as the Marzas and the Reyes songs. Photo: LBM1948 (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Humada
