Hermitage of San Pantaleón de Losa Monument · Valle de Losa, Las Merindades, Burgos It stands on a rocky spur overlooking the whole Losa valley (Burgos) and is considered one of the most original works of Romanesque architecture in Burgos, with some fame for its legendary connection to the Holy Grail. Its doorway shows on one side the celebrated figure of the atlas and on the other a zigzag column, with capitals carved with motifs such as Jonah and the whale or a reptile devouring a fallen man. Consecrated in 1207, it preserved for centuries a relic of the blood of Saint Pantaleon that liquefied on his feast day and drew numerous pilgrims. Its restoration uncovered a necropolis dating from the 13th to the 17th centuries and the remains of an early Christian basilica predating the church. The municipality also holds the Roman villa of Los Casarejos, protected since 1993. Photo: Rowanwindwhistler (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Valle de Losa
