Ibeas de Juarros Village · Ibeas de Juarros, Burgos (Alfoz), Burgos Ibeas de Juarros is a municipality of 1,492 inhabitants in the Alfoz de Burgos district, whose territory contains two World Heritage sites: the Atapuerca sites and the Camino de Santiago. The main access to the sites is in the village, where in 2009 the headquarters of the Atapuerca Foundation, designed by architect Ignacio Camarero, was opened. Its name may come from the Basque Ibaia, "river," already documented in 921 as Ebeia. Its red beans are famous, hand-grown on the banks of the Arlanzón for olla podrida, a typical Burgos dish with beans and pork products from the matanza (traditional pig slaughter).
