The La Aceña reservoir Nature · Peguerinos, Burgohondo - El Tiemblo - Cebreros, Ávila The La Aceña reservoir lies at the edge of the municipal district of Peguerinos (Ávila), already on the border of the Sierra de Guadarrama natural park, which extends into the southwest of the municipality, and is an area for walking and observing forest birds. It belongs to the Tajo river basin and dams the waters of the Aceña river by means of an arch-gravity dam, designed by J. L. Nistal and built in 1991; it has a surface area of 115 hectares and a capacity of 24 cubic hectometres. At the foot of the dam stands the La Aceña ETAP, which treats its waters to supply the surrounding villages, and can also transfer water by tunnel to the La Jarosa reservoir.
