Castle of la Adrada Monument · La Adrada, Arenas de San Pedro, Ávila La Adrada castle, in the Tiétar valley, has its origin in a 14th-century Gothic church built on a hill, which the constable Ruy López Dávalos, to whom Henry III of Castile had granted the town, fortified at the end of that century and turned into a palatial residence; the wall surrounding it dates from the 15th century. It later passed into the hands of Álvaro de Luna, under John II of Castile, and of Beltrán de la Cueva, under Henry IV; in the 17th century it belonged to the House of Montijo and in the 19th to the House of Alba. After a long period of decay, it was handed over to the Town Council of La Adrada, restored and refurbished, and today houses the historical interpretation centre of the Tiétar valley.
