Remains of the 15th-century castle that was the administrative head of the former place of Caudilla, today part of the municipality of Santo Domingo-Caudilla. The place name Caudilla may itself derive from the Latin caput (head), alluding to the fact that this place was the head of the state or territory presided over by the castle.
