El Tinaní of Quismondo Activity · Quismondo, Torrijos, Toledo Image of Quismondo, not of the place itself. El Tinaní is an old festival of Quismondo (Toledo) celebrated every Easter Sunday. Five young people take part with fixed roles: the Abanderado, the strongest of the group, who carries a red and gold flag embroidered with the image of the Risen Christ at its centre; the Alcalde, the main character; the Mochiller, the only child in the procession; and two Alabarderos. All of them perform a series of ceremonies in honour of the Risen Christ and the Virgin Mary, accompanied by the music of the Castilian dulzaina and drum rolls, playing two simple, repetitive tunes, the pasacalles and the flag dance, considered circular dances of Renaissance structure.
