Dominguín, Bullfighter of Quismondo Curiosity · Quismondo, Torrijos, Toledo Image of Quismondo, not of the place itself. Domingo González Mateos, known as Dominguín, was born in Quismondo on 4 August 1895 and became one of the most influential figures in Spanish bullfighting. He took his alternativa in Madrid on 26 September 1918, sponsored by Joselito, with a classical but uneven style in the ring, and after retiring became a leading apoderado, representing figures such as Manolete, Cagancho and Domingo Ortega. Married to Gracia Lucas Lorente, he had five children, three of them also bullfighters: Domingo, Pepe and Luis Miguel Dominguín, whom he led to success by pitting him against Manolete when he was still twenty years old. His descendants include the singer Miguel Bosé and the bullfighters Francisco and Cayetano Rivera Ordóñez. He died in Madrid on 21 August 1958.
